Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat soon, trials to begin on Tuesday

The eagerly anticipated Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express is anticipated to begin service soon, and route-proving trials will be held on Tuesday.

The fourth semi-high-speed train from India’s financial hub will be the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat. There are now three Vande Bharat trains operating in Mumbai: the Vande Bharat Express between Mumbai and Solapur and the Vande Bharat trains between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad-Gujarat Capital.

They are modern trains, capable of travelling at a top speed of 180 km/h. In addition to upgraded seating arrangements for increased comfort, it boasts aerodynamically constructed coaches with automated doors, onboard Wi-Fi, a GPS-based passenger information system, bio-vacuum restrooms, and onboard Wi-Fi. Regenerative braking technologies on the train can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.

Between Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Nashik, these trains are the first of their kind to ascend and descend India’s harshest ghats devoid of any auxiliary back engines.

A first-of-its-kind self-propelled train set, the semi-high-speed train has executive class carriages with spinning seats that can swivel up to 180 degrees. By the end of 2023, Indian Railways hopes to run 75 Vande Bharat trains on well-traveled routes all over the nation.
