On May 16, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will include a new game.

Starting on Tuesday, May 16, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can play FIFA 23 in its entirety. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives subscribers access to all the vanilla Game Pass games, special perks, and the benefits associated with Xbox Live Gold, plus it comes with all the EA Play titles as well.

EA Play used to require a separate Xbox subscription. Eventually, a deal was negotiated that would incorporate EA Play into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, significantly enhancing the value of the most expensive Xbox membership tier. The ability to play games the day they are released is a key selling point of Game Pass, and while EA Play does offer free trials for its new titles, it does not immediately grant its users unrestricted access to the games.

FIFA 23 is being added to the EA Play portfolio after an average wait time of six to twelve months for new EA games. On May 16, FIFA 23 will formally become a part of the EA Play portfolio, making it accessible to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The most recent game in EA’s venerable and hugely successful FIFA series, FIFA 23, should make a big contribution to the Game Pass Ultimate catalogue.

What Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers may anticipate from the service in the second half of the month is made clearer by the announcement that FIFA 23 will be available on that service on May 16. Microsoft has listed every new Xbox Game Pass title for the first half of May 2023, but it won’t likely reveal the titles for the second half of the month until the beginning of the next week. Fans, however, have been made aware of what to anticipate by prior release date announcements.

Amnesia: The Bunker, a new horror title, will be added to Xbox Game Pass on May 23, and Cassette Beasts and Railway Empire 2’s console versions will be added on May 25. Farworld Pioneers will lastly be added to the Game Pass lineup on May 30. While FIFA 23 can’t be considered a day one Xbox Game Pass game because it debuted last September, it should still be a significant new addition to the programme.
