Introduction
The only diesel SUV that now offers customers the convenience of an iMT is the Kia Seltos. This iMT, or intelligent manual gearbox, offers the control of a manual gearbox and the ease of an automated gearbox without the need for a clutch. Additionally, there is the 1.5-liter, 113 horsepower, fuel-efficient diesel engine. This seems like a perfect pairing, don’t you think?
Indeed, I do. To verify this, we drove the car, and we covered all the facts in our first drive review. In fact, we even put its performance and actual fuel efficiency to the test. Here, we will give you an overview of how it performed in our comprehensive tank-to-tank road test; unfortunately, the official ARAI fuel-efficiency ratings are not yet available.
City Fuel Efficient
We tested the Seltos on the same route we use for all of our vehicles. Given that this SUV weights 1,310kg, which is a lot, we weren’t expecting it to have much to offer. Within the city, the Seltos iMT did manage to deliver 17.59 kmpl. For a car this size and weight, this is good.
Road fuel efficiency
It was expected that the Seltos iMT would perform even better on the highway after such a remarkable achievement in the city. It achieved an improved fuel efficiency of 20.71kmpl in this instance.
So let’s think about the diesel Seltos’ 50-liter fuel tank. Currently, it will offer a realistic driving range of roughly 957 km, which is fairly excellent for a mid-size SUV. It currently gets an average of 19.15 km per litre.
Please be aware that while the tested statistics aren’t drastically different from the stated figures, our tests are conducted in real-world circumstances for all cars as opposed to the claimed figures under ideal circumstances. These tested data offer you an approximate idea of what you might anticipate from your car.
