In 2018, Cupra split out from Seat, and its first solo model, the Formentor, was introduced in 2020. Since then, the carmaker has gained notoriety in Europe as a result of the crossover’s popularity.
It goes without saying that the Cupra will soon concentrate mostly on electric models, but the Formentor will continue to play a significant role in the brand’s lineup. Nevertheless, the vehicle is anticipated to receive a significant restyling in terms of both technology and aesthetics.
The rendering of the Cupra Fermentor is based on the model presented during the “Unstoppable Impulse” event in June 2022, as well as recent sightings. The main aesthetic changes will be concentrated on the front, with a grille inspired by the shapes of the Cupra Tavascan, the new fully electric coupe SUV. The front will have a square shape and new LED headlights with three triangular elements to give further personality to the “look” of the Cupra. The refresh is also expected to get a new set of alloy wheels and body colors.
A new infotainment screen with lighted climate control buttons could be added inside the restyling to enhance vision while driving at night. The Tribe Edition’s and the VZ5’s Cup Buckets’ Alcantara upholstery, which was recently shown, could be added to the options.
According to what we now know, the Cupra is probably going to examine several versions and increase their effectiveness and power. The 1.5-liter TSI gasoline engines with 150 horsepower could be converted into mild hybrids like those seen in the Leon and Leon Sportstourer, but the 2.0-liter engines with 190, 245 and 310 horsepower should remain in tact without any form of electrification. The plug-in hybrids may also get a bigger battery, which will impact their overall power and electric range.
The restyling is expected to be officially unveiled by the end of 2023, with a possible debut in the dealership in spring 2024. Cupra currently mulls entering the US market, albeit, nothing’s set in stone at this point.
